Get your GPX file
A GPX file is the route of an activity, saved as a small file. Nearly every running, cycling and hiking app can export one. Menus change from time to time, so if a step below does not match what you see, look for the app's export or download option on the activity.
Strava
- Open the activity on the Strava website (not the phone app).
- Open the activity menu (the three dots) and choose the GPX export option.
- Only the owner of an activity can export it, so if it is a gift, ask them to send you the file.
Garmin Connect
- Open the activity in Garmin Connect on the website.
- Use the settings (gear) menu on the activity and choose Export to GPX.
Apple Watch and Apple Health
- Apple Health does not export single workouts as GPX itself.
- Use a third-party app from the App Store that exports workout routes as GPX, or sync the workout to Strava and export from there.
Komoot
- Open the completed tour or planned route on the Komoot website.
- Look for the download or export option and choose GPX.
COROS
- Open the activity in the COROS app or on the COROS training website.
- Use the share or export option and choose GPX.
Anything else
- Most fitness apps can export GPX. Check the app's share or export option on the activity.
- If an app only offers TCX or FIT, syncing the activity to Strava or Garmin Connect and exporting from there usually works.
Buying it as a gift?
Ask them to send the GPX file of the run, or to export it with you. If you want it to be a surprise, a planned route of the same event from the organiser's website or a route-planning app works too.
Got the file?
Upload it and see your print. Nothing is saved until you order.
