This explains what Mapped Miles collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. [TRADING NAME] is the data controller.
Your route (GPX) data
A GPX file contains the places you went and, often, times. When you upload one, it is read in your browser to draw the preview. Nothing is sent to us until you start checkout.
When you order, we save the design you made: a simplified version of the route plus the text and stats you chose. By default the first and last part of the route is trimmed before it is saved, so the print does not show where you started and finished (often your home). We do not keep the original file.
Order details
To make and deliver your print we keep your name, email, delivery address and what you ordered. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Your design and delivery address are shared with our UK print partner so they can print and post your order.
Where it is stored
Designs and orders are stored with Supabase. Payments are processed by Stripe. These providers act on our behalf and may process data outside the UK under standard safeguards.
Analytics and cookies
- We use Umami to count visits and see which steps people complete. It does not use cookies or collect personal data.
- We use the Meta Pixel to measure our Facebook and Instagram adverts. It sets cookies, so it only loads if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your mind with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
- When you buy, our server tells Meta that a purchase happened (the order value, an order reference and a scrambled, hashed copy of your email) so it can measure our ads. Meta cannot read your email from the hashed copy.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for 6 years for tax purposes. Designs for orders are kept for 12 months so we can reprint a damaged print, then deleted. Designs that were never ordered are deleted after 30 days.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@mappedmiles.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
